Basketball Court Diagram

One piece of equipment that proves important for each and every basketball court is a basketball court diagram. A basketball court diagram is a picture of the lines of a basketball court from a bird’s eye view. A coach would use a basketball court diagram to model plays or player placement for his or her players. A basketball court diagram can be drawn up from scratch but symmetrical basketball court diagrams can also be bought to use.

Some coaches are lucky enough to have free basketball court diagrams available to them. Sometimes these basketball court diagram layouts are drawn out on paper. This way, copies can be made to use the basketball floor diagram over and over again. A new blank basketball court diagram can be used each time the coach says, “I need a blank basketball court diagram!” Copies can be run off from a copy machine or printed from a printer. However, printable basketball court diagrams can use up a lot of pieces of paper. This makes a printable diagram of a basketball court not the best choice for some.

Basketball court diagrams come in other styles as well. Some clipboards come in a white board style with a permanent diagram of a basketball court on it. Coaches can then use dry erase markers to erase the marks they write on the board without erasing the basketball diagram. These types of reusable diagrams of basketball courts also come in a silver metallic style that allows coaches to erase dry erase markings. Some of these types of diagrams of basketball courts come as half court basketball diagrams. Usually the coach is only showing players one play at a time. Therefore, only one side of the court is necessary, particularly when coaching younger players. However, if more intricate full court plays or full court presses are being used, a full court basketball court diagram would be more appropriate.

Many players find that when coaches use basketball court diagrams to demonstrate plays it is easier to follow then just having the coach explain what he or she wants the players to do. Seeing the coach draw out the play on a basketball court diagram, using the basketball court lines as a guide makes it easier for players to understand and follow the directions a coach gives. A basketball court diagram is a great pick-up for a basketball coach at any level.
